When disaster strikes a local family, you show up. You offer comfort, hope, and meet their immediate needs.
Responsibilities: Respond to local disasters (such as home fires) with the help and supervision of an experienced volunteer, while taking the free online classes required to become a fully qualified disaster responder. Participate in occasional local team meetings and trainings and continue to learn while making a difference as a Red Cross disaster volunteer.
Reports to: Emergency Services Manager and/or DAT Coordinator, Leader or Responder
Qualifications to become a DAT Trainee:
- Become a registered Red Cross volunteer
- Disaster Services: An Overview
- Attend a minimum of 6 DAT meetings a year
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR/ AED Certification (if not current, training can be obtained once you've started. These classes are free to registered Red Cross volunteers.)
