Who We Are

The Garden conducts nature hikes, bird walks, maple syrup demonstartions, and a Fall nature festival.

What We Do

The Garden represents the landscape Abraham Lincoln would have known growing up and living in the Midwest, containing plants native to the three states he lived in--Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.  What may look like a naturally occurring landscape of woods and meadows was actually a pasture seventy years ago.  Thousands of threes, shrubs and wildflowers were planted by Garden Club members, scouts and volunteers following the original plan of internationally-known landscape architect, Jens Jensen.

The 100 acre site features six miles of interconnected trails, a dozen footbridges, a pond and eight stone council rings, most with views of Lake Springfield.  A Nature Center is nestled among the trees.   It houses the Garden's administrative office, educational exhibits and the Split Rail Gift Shop.
