Who We Are

Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach responds to the sick, poor and needy through our medical surplus recovery organization.

Surplus medical equipment and supplies, which would otherwise be sent to landfills, are recovered from partner hospitals and clinics. Recipients apply to receive these items and are shipped to healthcare providers in developing countries around the world.

Volunteers are crucial to this mission, as they help sort and package all medical supplies donated, which arrive in semi-truck loads each week.  Volunteer positions also include doing data entry, pulling orders in the warehouse, office support staff and opportunities to assist the Biomedical Engineer.  A medical background is not required to volunteer.

What We Do

Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach was founded in 2002 by the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. This ministry which began in a garage on the grounds of the Hospital Sisters' Motherhouse eventually relocated to a 23,000 square foot facility that was built in 2006.

Mission Outreach works with more than 60 hospitals and 18 multi-specialty clinics throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. This also includes partners in Indiana, Missouri, and Kansas.
