Preservation, Inc.

Who We Are

Preservation, Inc. is a Springfield-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to preserve, restore, and share the historic Ursuline Academy campus and its legacy. Founded in 2021 after the campus was acquired by preservation-minded community leaders, the organization was created to ensure that these significant historic buildings would be protected and returned to active community use rather than lost to deterioration. Our mission is to preserve historic structures, honor the stories they hold, and create opportunities for education, culture, and community engagement. Our vision is a future where Springfield's historic places continue to inspire, educate, and serve the community for generations to come. As stewards of more than 20 acres of historic buildings and grounds, Preservation, Inc. relies solely on volunteers to support restoration, maintenance, landscaping, and community programming. The scope of work required to preserve and operate this historic campus exceeds the capacity of our current volunteer base, creating an ongoing need for additional volunteers and community partners. Expanding volunteer involvement will allow us to continue restoring these important community assets while providing greater public access, educational opportunities, and cultural experiences for the Springfield community.

What We Do

Preservation, Inc. fulfills its mission of preserving and sharing Springfield's historic and cultural heritage through restoration projects, educational programming, community events, and volunteer engagement. We restore and maintain the historic Ursuline Academy campus while creating opportunities for the public to experience and learn from these important historic resources. Our activities include guided tours, educational presentations, concerts, community gatherings, weddings, and special events that bring people onto the campus and connect them with local history. Volunteers play a critical role by assisting with landscaping, gardening, building maintenance, cleaning, event support, and preservation projects. By combining historic preservation with active community use, Preservation, Inc. ensures that these significant buildings remain relevant, accessible, and sustainable while serving as a resource for education, culture, and community engagement for generations to come.
