The SAA is a community based, non-profit organization that promotes and supports the visual arts, provides art education opportunities for the greater Springfield area, and preserves and interprets historic Edwards Place and the collections of the SAA.
Our vision is to be the creative heart of the community.
Founded in 1913, the SAA has been a leader in community visual arts for over one hundred years. Today, we have grown to include 6 studio spaces, two galleries, a historic house museum, an artist-in-residence duplex, and an art library.
What We Do
We are a community visual arts organization that provides art education, art appreciation, and historic preservation through our historic house museum. We offer many programs throughout the year, such as outreach in the classroom and in our Make Truck, summer camps, art classes throughout the year, and several large events (Paint the Street, Roasted, Art Synergy, Murder Mysteries, plays, 6x6 Art Raffle).
