Who We Are
At Casa of Sangamon County, our mission is to provide trained, court-appointed volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. We work to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home, where their voices are heard and their needs are met.
What We Do
Advocates are everyday people who care about children. After receiving training and being sworn in by the court, they are assigned to a child or sibling group. They:
- Get to know the child and their circumstances
- Talk with family members, teachers, foster parents, and service providers
- Review records and reports
- Provide written recommendations to the court to help judges make informed decisions
CASA advocates are often the one constant person in a child’s life during a difficult and uncertain time.
