Who We Are
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois provides a supportive place for families to stay while their child is receiving medical care.
The Springfield Ronald McDonald House was established in 1986 and since then, we've served thousands of families while their children receive medical care in Springfield. In 2019, we opened our second House to serve families traveling to Peoria. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois is part of a Global network of more than 375 Houses in 62 countries and regions.
What We Do
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois provides a temporary home away from home for families whose children are receiving medical treatment in Springfield or Peoria. In an effort to reduce stress, keep the family intact, and enhance the quality of life for families, our Houses provides a caring, home-like atmosphere for our guests. In 2022, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois provided 8,231 nights of care to 437 families.
The Springfield House provides 14 private guest rooms with bathrooms--free of charge--to families whose children are receiving medical care in Springfield. On average, families stay with us for about 14 days, but a family can stay with us for as long as their child is receiving care--and sometimes, that can be several months. Meals are provided and families have access to a kitchen and a basic pantry if they would like to make their own meals. Families use a free laundry room in the guest wing. Families enjoy a garden and outdoor play area where they can relax and have fun together. The House is located just blocks from Springfield's medical facilities and a shuttle service comes right to our front door.
