What We Do
The Youth Service Bureau is a licensed Child Welfare agency in Springfield, Illinois that has been serving at-risk youth and their families for over 40 years. The agency serves the counties of Mason, Menard, Sangamon, Christian and Logan, about 900 square miles. The Youth Service Bureau provides services to youth ages 11-24 that are abused, neglected and runaway or homeless. They also have a shelter that provides safe housing, food and clothing to youth who need temporary placement away from their home.
The Youth Service Bureau follows a philosophy that children learn and grow best in their home environment when possible. We also follow the basic philosophy that all children are of equal value and deserve to be nurtured and grow in a loving and healthy environment. Services are geared towards diverting youth from the Juvenile Justice and/or Child Welfare System by providing needed services to stabilize the home and bring about positive change so that youth can become all that they want to be.
It is the vision of the Youth Service Bureau that all children should have the opportunity to become all that they want to be regardless of ethnicity or family environment they were born into. The Youth Service Bureau follows a philosophy that individual client strengths are the building blocks for at-risk youth and their families and through a positive collaborative community process we can help every child realize their full potential.
